Permission from the Office of the Dean is required for: undergraduates wishing to enroll in graduate courses, credit overloads (17 credits or more including assistantship credits), and courses at Princeton, RWJ Medical School, School of Public Health, NJIT, University of Pennsylvania and the Inter-University Doctoral Consortium. Permission from the graduate program is required for courses that require a special permission number or a prerequisite override.


Paper Term bills will not be mailed. Once a student registers, the term bill is available on line at

To avoid a late payment fee, students are advised to pay their term bills by the term bill due date. If a student registers after classes begin, the term bill payment due date is the day he/she registers.

Late payment fees are currently $125.00.

Payroll deduction is available for most students on assistantships or fellowships. Payment plans are available for others by contacting University Accounting Services at 1-800-833-9783 or download their application at After the first week of classes students must apply directly to Student Accounting, Room 138, Records Hall, College Avenue Campus, 848-932-2254.

Fall term begins. Complete withdrawals from the University on or after this date yield prorated refunds during the first six weeks of the semester. Courses with less than five students are subject to cancellation.

Tuesday, September 6 - Monday, September 19, 2016

Students may drop courses without a W grade (providing they remain registered in other courses) in person only at the Graduate Registrar, Graduate School-New Brunswick, or their graduate program office.   If students drop via the web between September 13 and September 19, a W will be assigned but the W will be subsequently removed and the course deleted.

Students may add courses to an existing registration without permission via webreg, in person at the Graduate Registrar or the Graduate School-New Brunswick or via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (webreg will not allow adds online after September 14th).

Students may not do an initial registration via webreg.

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

As of this date, students must have the approval of an advisor and the Graduate School-New Brunswick in order to add course(s). Adds must be done in person through the graduate program or dean’s office.

As of this date, drops result in a W being posted on the transcript and a tuition charge. Drops will be possible via phone, web or in person through the 7th week of the term (Tuesday, October 25, 2016) with a W grade and tuition charge.

Last day to file a diploma application, on line: and submit completed theses and dissertations and candidacy forms to receive an October degree. Students who previously filed a diploma application for May 2016 must file a new diploma application by this date. Further information is available from the Graduate Registrar (Room 200F ASB, Busch Campus; 848-445-2104).

All requests for course drops and changes to audit/not for credit status (N prefix) must be approved by the dean’s office. Students must request that the instructor send a paper or email memo that clearly states the student’s grade and/or academic status as of the date given to the dean’s office for review.

Only students in good academic standing will be permitted to drop. A W will be posted on the transcript and tuition is charged. Students are subject to failing grades at the discretion of the instructor.

End of Fall exam period.

Research (700 level) and N-prefix registrations are to be graded either S (satisfactory), U (unsatisfactory), or IN (incomplete).

Grades of NG (no grade given) will be posted by the Graduate Registrar for any grades left blank on rosters. NG converts to an F grade at the end of the next term. Students who have not completed work should be given an IN instead of leaving grade blank, which converts to NG. Students who did not attend the course should be referred to the dean’s office.
