John B. Lent, JD, MBA -Department of Religion, Class of 2000 John graduated from the program in 2000 and went on to receive his J.D. from Rutgers Law School - Camden in 2003, as well as his M.B.A. from Rutgers Business School - Newark/New Brunswick in 2007. He has focused his professional career on improving the lives of those most in need. From providing legal advocacy to domestic violence victims in Camden, NJ to working with ALPS Foundation Services as a marketing consultant in Missoula, MT, John has been working tirelessly to use the skills he has developed at Rutgers to provide professional support to agencies that are dedicated to making a difference. Currently, John lives on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, NY and he works as the Hudson Valley Coordinator of Special Projects with Catholic Charities Community Services for the Archdiocese of New York. Primarily, his role is to write grant applications and grant reports, as well to assist the regional directors with the data monitoring and staff development. |
Anita Pfisterer - Department of Religion, Class of 2002 After graduation in 2002, Anita continued her education at RU School of Social Work and earned an MSW in 2005 (after internships in CPC Behavioral Health and in radiation therapy at Monmouth Medical Center where she drew heavily upon her Religion education to assist patients use their own religious/spiritual beliefs as a source of strength and healing). She later went on to work at Monmouth Medical Center as the oncology social worker. This education was invaluable to her as she worked with patients experiencing acute states of anxiety, depression and grief, especially within the terminally ill and caregiver populations. After 911, Anita worked with groups utilizing again, mindfulness meditation. Currently she is in private practice and provides psychotherapy, biofeedback, hypnotherapy and mindfulness meditation (the subject of her thesis), services to her clients. Anita also facilitates support groups and psycho-educational programs, including Mindfulness Meditation to participants at The Wellness Community, a cancer organization that has free programs for cancer patients and their loved ones. As you can see, her Religion Dept. Honors project, "The Efficacy of Meditation Practice on Coping Responses of Cancer Patients in Treatment" evolved to be at the core of Anita's professional practice, as she practices being mindfully present in both her professional and personal lives, shes now has six grandchildren, so life is full!Little Silver Behavioral Health |
Darren Halverson - Department of Religion, Class of 2006 Darren graduated from Rutgers College in 2006 with degrees in Political Science and Religion, and with a minor in Economics. Shortly after school, he served the Department of Justice in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey in the Securities and Health Care Fraud Unit. In 2008, Darren enrolled at the Georgetown University Law Center where he will graduate in 2011. Following law school, he will be working for a large law firm in New York City. |
