After graduation in 2002, Anita continued her education at RU School of Social Work and earned an MSW in 2005 (after internships in CPC Behavioral Health and in radiation therapy at Monmouth Medical Center where she drew heavily upon her Religion education to assist patients use their own religious/spiritual beliefs as a source of strength and healing). She later went on to work at Monmouth Medical Center as the oncology social worker. This education was invaluable to her as she worked with patients experiencing acute states of anxiety, depression and grief, especially within the terminally ill and caregiver populations. After 911, Anita worked with groups utilizing again, mindfulness meditation. Currently she is in private practice and provides psychotherapy, biofeedback, hypnotherapy and mindfulness meditation (the subject of her thesis), services to her clients. Anita also facilitates support groups and psycho-educational programs, including Mindfulness Meditation to participants at The Wellness Community, a cancer organization that has free programs for cancer patients and their loved ones. As you can see, her Religion Dept. Honors project, "The Efficacy of Meditation Practice on Coping Responses of Cancer Patients in Treatment" evolved to be at the core of Anita's professional practice, as she practices being mindfully present in both her professional and personal lives, shes now has six grandchildren, so life is full!
